Each time the elevator doors opened, there was something even crazier inside. So crazy the spectators must have started wondering about their own sanity.
A group of pranksters decided that elevator rides had become uneventful and they set out to change that. After all, pressing all the elevator buttons lost the fun after 5th grade when you realized you were actually pranking yourself by making your 30 second elevator ride into a 3 hour stop-and-go session.
One set of pranksters took over certain elevators and turned them into mini-theme parties. This video shows people innocently clicking the button and attempting to get into an elevator only to find a reggae scene complete with smoke ... or someone's bedroom ... or a 70's disco.
Imagine trying to get to work on time only to see that your elevator has been taken over by sumo wrestlers. And then imagine trying to explain that to your boss. And the best part of this prank is that the targets tended to ride alone. So they couldn't turn to the person next to them and ask, "Did you just see that?"
The British pranks show Trigger Happy TV did a similar elevator prank. While their target stands in the elevator, two life-size bunnies come in and start having sex (gentle rabbit sex, nothing hardcore). It would have been funnier though if they had smuggled in real rabbits and started releasing them every few seconds. So by the time the elevator doors opened up again, it was full of rabbits ... and one horrified man who didn't know what to do with himself.

I think this is a great idea. Messing with people on an elevator brightens your day and theirs. I saw a good one at college where they ducked taped a freshman to the inside of an elevator and so people had pretend like there wasn't a guy hanging from the wall next to them. This same idea can be applied to subways and other forms of public transportation. The link below is from a guy in France who does this man on the street stuff a lot and its hysterical

Remi Gaillard was also the guy who did the elevator pranks. I don't think his name was mentioned anywhere.
